The main theme of design studio - From Terazije to River Sava tried to support creation of New vision of Belgrade, with connecting the historical city of Belgrade with its neglected area of the riverfront, as it represents area of great significance and potential. New proposal for revitalization of Beton hala is important since it could represent starting point in necessary regeneration of the riverside.
Belgrade riverfront is defined by many industrial buildings that were abandoned, so as a result of it there is issue of lack of activities and facilities that would attract citizens back to this space.
Project is defined as a promenade connecting the existing pathway of the Kalemegdan fortress with the atractive location of the riverside. The idea to overcome the height using ramps, that are located on the existing building (Beton hala), enabled connection with Belgrade Fortress viewpoint to the river.
Difference in height was used to form spaces for special activities, open and closed space, mostly sports and recreational activities with different leisure activities.
This promenade as the extension of the Beton hala provides fantastic panorama of the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers, and of New Belgrade and Zemun.
Beside the Beton hala object and slope , another object was designed , it’s hip roof corresponds with the shape of a ramp. Along the ramp moving walkways are located to enable the movement for persons with special needs and for the elderly, while between the green surfaces, there are info points and small bars for refreshment.
Design proposal for revitalization of Beton Hala - ‘‘La Confluenza’’ provides needed connection between Belgrade riverfront and capital’s main attraction, medieval fortifications - Kalemegdan Fortress and park, while at the same time being a trigger for further urban regeneration.
